Fazela Course

The Fazela Course is a specialized, in-depth Islamic studies program designed exclusively for women who aspire to become qualified Islamic scholars (ʿālimāt). This advanced-level course blends classical Islamic scholarship with modern educational methodologies to empower women with authentic knowledge, intellectual depth, and spiritual refinement. The course nurtures female scholars who are not only well-versed in the Islamic sciences but also capable of guiding, educating, and serving their communities with wisdom and integrity.

Course Vision:

To revive the tradition of female scholarship in Islam by equipping women with the tools to access, interpret, and teach Islamic knowledge with excellence, confidence, and relevance in the modern world.

Core Subjects:

  • Tafsīr (Qur’anic Exegesis): A comprehensive study of the Qur'an with classical commentaries, linguistic analysis, and reflections on contemporary issues from a female perspective.
  • Hadīth Studies: Study of major hadith collections, methodology of authentication, understanding context (asbāb al-wurūd), and application in everyday life.
  • Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence): Detailed exploration of the rulings of worship, personal law, and social dealings based on traditional schools of thought, with focus on women’s issues and fiqh for modern contexts.
  • Usūl al-Fiqh (Principles of Jurisprudence): Foundations of legal theory, sources of Islamic law, and how scholars derive rulings.
  • ʿAqīdah (Creed & Theology): Study of Islamic beliefs, examination of theological schools, and responses to contemporary ideological challenges.
  • Sīrah & Islamic History: Life of the Prophet ﷺ and key events in Islamic history with emphasis on the role and contributions of women.
  • Arabic Language: Intensive grammar (naḥw & ṣarf), vocabulary building, and reading comprehension for understanding classical texts in their original form.
  • Tazkiyah (Spiritual Purification): Inner reform, ethical character-building, and connection with Allah through the teachings of tasawwuf and Islamic spirituality.
